Dr. Joyce was born and raised in Tempe, AZ. As a junior in high school, he volunteered in the emergency room and liked knowing he was helping others. While earning his bachelor’s degree at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, he determined practicing medicine would be the best path for him to be of service to people. Dr. Joyce graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed an OB/ GYN internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI and his family medicine residency through Waukesha Family Practice in Waukesha, WI.

Dr. Joyce began his career by opening a practice in Ivanhoe, MN, then worked as a family medicine physician in Springfield, MN, and Sleepy Eye, MN. He and his wife Kathleen have ten children and five grandchildren so far. Throughout his years as a family physician, his calling has remained the same – to be a humble servant to all.

The beauty of the Glenwood area made the decision easy to join the Emergency Department team in 2019. He noticed the providers and staff care about giving the best attention to each patient’s situation. In 2021, Dr. Joyce transferred to the clinic and hospital settings to establish ongoing care for community members.

“I truly care about giving my best attention to each patient’s situation.”

Dr. Joyce enjoys woodworking and boat building, kayaking, camping, and biking in his spare time. He also enjoys the arts and plays accordion, participates and attends theater production, and sings in a choir. Spanish is also a second language.
